Below you will find a description of our basic package. This is a very popular package that many of our clients utilize. Keep in mind, that we can customize your restoration project based on your requests.

  • TEARDOWN: After inspection the piano is completely disassembled. Strings, plate, block, pins, and the action are removed.
  • KILN DRIED: All remaining components, including all case parts, soundboard ( still in piano ) and bridges are placed in a drying room where the moisture content is lowered to an optimum level for remanufacturing and repair.
  • CASE STRIPPING: After the moisture content is brought down, the piano and all its case parts are thoroughly stripped and prepared to accept primer and the final finish.
  • PLATE STRIPPED: After being inspected for cracks and verification of structural stability, the plate is completely stripped and prepared for primer.
  • PLATE PRIMED: IN order to obtain a good color and appearance, the plate must also be thoroughly primed in order to accept the final color and lacquer finish.
  • CASE PRIMER: In order to accept the multiple coats of lacquer and finish applied to the piano, all case parts are coated with a special primer designed to accept the finish properly.
  • CASE REFINISHED: We use only the highest quality finishing materials, including lacquer, polyurethane and polyester. The final finish is determined based on the customers specifications. Once the color and finish have been applied and allowed to dry properly each piano is then meticulously hand rubbed to gain the optimum sheen.
  • NEW PIN BLOCK AND PINS: Each piano receives a new custom made pin block cut specifically for the piano and to original factory specification. Each pin block is of the diligent type. The block is then drilled and the new pins driven into place once the plate is installed.
  • NEW BRIDGES / BRIDGE REPAIR: As we all know, the bridge is one of the most essential elements of good piano tone. Each bridge is thoroughly inspected and either repaired or replaced to original factory specification. If the bridge is in excellent shape, then no repair or replacement will be necessary.
  • SOUNDBOARD REPAIRED: At the present time we do not replace soundboards. Each board, after being properly dried is thoroughly inspected. If seams or cracks are found in the piano, each one is then routed out and a new piece of spruce laid in. We even go to the extent of re-graining and staining to attempt to match the original board's color and appearance. Of course our number one concern is tonal reproduction. In addition to board repair we also make all necessary repairs and our adjustments to the ribs. Ribs are repaired and re-glued prior to repairing any cracks or seams.
  • NEW STRINGS: Each piano receives a completely new set of custom made strings. Both the table and bass are replaced.
  • NEW KEYTOPS: Each set is custom cut for the specific piano, thoroughly buffed and beveled. Ebony's are also replaced or refinished when necessary.
  • HARDWARE: All the hardware, including the casters, is thoroughly polished and prepared to look new and to match original factory specifications.
  • LOGO / LABEL REPLACEMENT: One of the final touches to any rebuild is the reapplication of all soundboard and fallboard logos, lettering, and serial numbers to the action and plate. All are replaced to match the original lettering and stenciling unless otherwise specified by the client.
  • TUNING: In addition to a basic chip tuning when the strings are applied, each piano will be tuned at least 4 times prior to preparation for delivery to your warehouse or dealership. This assumes you choose action work as an option
